Karia Airsoft – The Airsoft Team of Bodrum (En)
Karia Airsoft is not just an ordinary team — it’s Bodrum’s airsoft team. Born from a love of sport and friendship in one of the most beautiful regions of Turkey, this team has grown into an active community that brings together people through tactics, teamwork, and of course, fun.
It’s a story that began with a simple message between friends and evolved into one of the region’s most organized and active teams. Fair play, safety, and creative scenarios are non-negotiables for them. Karia Airsoft plays every second Sunday, usually in forested areas, and prefers long, milsim-style missions. Their scenarios include technological devices, multiple objectives, and lots of imagination.
The team’s motto is clear: “We are here for fun.”
In the interview below, you’ll learn more about the heart of this unique group, its fun-loving members, and why they’re so well-loved in the Aegean airsoft scene.
1. When and how was your team founded?
It all started when a friend sent me a picture of an airsoft gun. Since 2010, I had been buying airsoft guns, but I couldn’t convince anyone to form a team. I had just sold my G&G AR15 and bought a PCP rifle. When that message came, I said, “Okay, let’s play.” As new friends joined, we came up with the name: KARIA AIRSOFT, to show that our doors are open to everyone on the peninsula.
2. How many active members do you currently have?
Around 35 active members.
3. What is your team’s philosophy or vision?
Since the founding members are old friends, our philosophy is to have fun and enjoy time together. Like our first season patch says: “We are here for fun.” But that doesn’t mean we don’t care about losing.
4. How do you organize your games? Do you have a regular schedule?
Depending on the weather, we try to play every second Sunday.
5. What kind of scenarios do you prefer? (e.g., milsim, skirmish, etc.)
We usually prefer milsim scenarios that last at least 4 hours. We include multiple objectives and use electronic or analog devices to keep the excitement alive.
6. What kind of gear do you mostly use?
Mainly assault-type equipment. Snipers tend to get bored in our terrain, and the legal engagement distances are usually not enough.
7. Are there any special requirements to join your team?
Yes. Be honest, play fair, attend at least 2 games, and pay the annual membership fee.
8. Have you participated in international events or organized your own?
Unfortunately, no. But a former member of ours attended Berget twice. Three years ago, we organized our own event with camping — it was tough but led to great friendships.
9. How do you handle safety during games?
Safety is our top priority. Eye protection is especially important. We don’t play night games in dangerous CQB areas.
10. What are the biggest challenges your team faces?
Finding a proper field. There’s no CQB site nearby, and Bodrum’s growth makes it harder to find new places.
11. How do you view the airsoft community in Turkey today?
It’s growing. New teams are forming, more national events are happening, and even international players are joining our games now
12. Do you collaborate with other teams? Do you have good relations with nearby teams?
Yes. With friends from Izmir and Antalya, we formed “Camptical Inc.” with teams like Antalya Airsoft and UMT Izmir — they’re our brother teams. We also maintain good relations with other teams across Turkey.
13. Do you have a fixed training field or use different places each time?
We have two fields, both in forested areas — one main, one backup.
14. Is there a special memory or team member you’d like to share?
Every year we hold a “seniors vs. youngsters” match. Of course, the seniors always win — and we laugh a lot.
15. What are your future plans for Karia Airsoft?
No serious expansion plans — we’re just having fun and going with the flow.
16. If you had the chance, would you join an event in Greece?
Yes. But transporting airsoft guns and customs issues make it hard. I’m trying to find a solution with the authorities. We want to go to Kos Island.
17. What’s the funniest thing that happened during a game?
Our oldest player, Scorpido, tried to shoot a shepherd who was using the bushes as a toilet. There’s even a video!
18. Do you always bring a lucky charm to games?
No, I don’t have a special item.
19. Who is the best sniper in your team?
Turhan, who comes from Marmaris for every game.
20. Who gets lost the most during games?
Everyone has gotten lost once or twice, but probably me the most.
The forest is a mystery.
21. Do you prefer forest or urban-style games?
Definitely forest.
22. What’s your favorite airsoft gun?
My new Fabarms STF/12 gas shotgun, my old M870 Magpul, and for pistols, the TM MK23.
23. Do you use nicknames within the team?
Yes — mine is Panda. Others include Scorpido, Jackal, Redbeard, Orfos, Barbie.
24. What’s the funniest excuse someone gave for not admitting a hit?
“I swallowed the BB, so it doesn’t count.” — That was me 😄
25. What music do you listen to for motivation before games?
Usually heavy metal. But if I come with my friend, we play 80s-90s pop in the car.
26. If you could play airsoft anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Pripyat, Ukraine.
A big thank you to Karia Airsoft, the airsoft team of Bodrum, for their trust, kindness, and the passion they shared with us. It was a pleasure and an honor to meet people who live and breathe airsoft with sincerity, humor, and respect. We wish you safe games, full magazines, and countless unforgettable moments
